Adapting to the growing demand for conceptualised and abstracted art, my fine art degree saw the development of my work into layered images tackling issues of identity and personality, intertwined on themes of fashion, sexuality and sensuality.
Following Fashion
I have always found the most important thing in creating work was the inspiration I got, wherever I may have found it! My love of Klimt and Art Nouveau mixed with my curiosity of the sensuality certain fashion photography evokes lead me to create numerous studies of Vogue front covers. I searched through hundreds of cover issues to find poses and models that caught my eye and appealed to my imagination. Creativity is something I have always found only to be possible dependent on mood, inspiration, and the enthusiasm for drawing or painting the image you have at hand. It often takes me hours if not days to search through hundreds of images before something strikes me as perfect for my compositions. I am drawn to unusual poses and bold unconventional angles. I am intrigued by the power of negative space.

Still on the subject of pieces I created at a younger age, looking back is a fond reminder of times when the work I produced was purely about using and relying on my own skill. . .sketches and paintings that would take hours of blissful, mind clearing concentration. . .this was how young Emily spent her time. . .
